This machine was donated by the family of Professor Ronald George Harrison, who was Derby Professor of Anatomy at Liverpool University from 1950 until his death in 1962.

He was know internationally in the field of anatomy and he achieved worldwide fame in 1963 when as visiting professor in Egyptology at Cairo University he was invited to perform a post-mortem on the mummy of Tutankhamun.

This was the first time that the tomb had been opened since its discovery in 1923.
